Both Telecom and Insurance companies have corporate branding ads for a bulk of their media share. And most of such ads are well executed, heavy duty emotional types. Sar utha ke jiyo, Jeete raho, Express yourself, make the most of now etc.
Then Both also have snippets to announce different schemes, product variants' launches etc.
A case to quote here is that of Airtel. This is one brand which really qualifies for the biggest range in the quality of its messaging. Where there is the message which says that borders were to disappear, if only we were to talk; 2 kids talking in a supposedly middle eastern dialect, across a fence, and then discovering a mutual liking for soccer and then going on to play in no man's land.
This one really was the high point of its campaigns in recent times.
Then came the latest one with Airtel + Nokia = utter bakwaas. I really dont know wat the guys at Rediffusion (or is it JWT, considering there is Nokia here too) were thinking. "garv se kaho, Hello!"
Boss are you retards or what? Or you think your target segment is such? I so feel like i am subscribing to companies with dumb marketers at the helm, what with an airtel network on a nokia phone.
Or do we have two different IMC teams one trying to raise the bar and the other testing the depths of advertising quality.

Labels on your sleeve
I cringe every time I see a guy with the label of his suit still on! I mean, I know most of the really upmarket showrooms have the labels slashed and the suit ready to wear when it is delivered to you, but every now and then you will see guys really really trying to flaunt Peter England or Park Avenue!
I mean nothing wrong in wearing these perfectly cut and well made suits, but one, I believe it is faux pas to do it in the first place, and worse, do it with a bread and butter brand of men's clothing.
I aint no fashion pundit, and very often flinch when i see old pics of myself, but then the guy has only been learning no...
but puhleeeez, labels on your sleeves???? Even 'I' know it ain't the done thing!

alibi
i am setting up another blog. an anonymous one.
one, that will have all the poison i have in me to chuck up.
against people
against the state
against life
against myself
these days, something is happening. i am discovering another part of me
stronger views about things
sometimes bordering on vitriolic
all of that will now be spilt on the web
keep watching the blogspace, that nasty blogger, might just be me again.

Hand holding
I think India is the only country where straight men hold hands while walking on the street, hanging out in malls and don't get frowned upon.
India is also the only secular country to have couples, with completely conventional sexual preferences, humiliated and their faces blackened if they hold hands in public, hang out in public parks and exchange gifts.
